Greening Greenfield and Transition Town Greenfield are offering a 4-film series from January-April that aims to address the question: How can we as a community prepare for and even celebrate the changes we need to make as we come to the end of cheap energy? Films will be shown at the Greenfield Public Library. Doors will open at 6:15. Carbon Nation Wednesday, February 22, 6:30pm This film celebrates solutions, inspiration and action, making it appealing across the political spectrum. It shows how tackling climate change boosts the economy, increases national & energy security and promotes health and a clean environment. Growth Busters: Hooked on Growth Wednesday, March 28, 6:30pm This film takes a look at society's addiction to endless growth. The film examines the cultural barriers that prevent us from reacting rationally to the evidence that current levels of population and consumption are unsustainable and asks the most critical question of our time: How do we become a sustainable civilization? The Growing Edge: Beyond Sustainability to Regeneration Wednesday, April 25, 6:30pm This film is an antidote to environmental despair, a hopeful and practical look at a path to a viable, flourishing future. It introduces us to examples of projects led by some of the key figures in the Permaculture movement offering solutions and a hopeful proactive vision of a post-carbon future. All films are free and open to the public. A brief discussion will follow each film.
