Franklin County, with Greenfield as its
center, is burgeoning with entrepreneurship. Small business owners find the
county climate hospitable, and are attracted to the sense of community that goes
along with doing business in a small town.
Spin-off businesses from the technology-based programs at the University of
Massachusetts have naturally located here.
Businesses draw from a trade area population of more than 70,000 which
stretches from the western hill towns to the eastern villages along Route 2. To
encourage business today, the towns work through their planning departments to
secure grants and other opportunities attractive to businesses that desire to
expand, relocate or reinvest here.
Local businesses are supported and promoted by the Franklin
County Chamber of Commerce and the Greenfield Business Association.. |
