TRAVEL ADVISORY FOR FRANKLIN COUNTY

Driving directions to and around Franklin County towns due to the aftermath of Storm Irene:

Although several secondary roads in west county are still closed, including Route 2 between Savoy and Florida, I-91 is open in both northbound and southbound lanes, eliminating the detour through Greenfield and Deerfield after the August 28th flooding.

Route 2 West is closed between Savoy and Florida, making it a roundabout trip from Charlemont to North Adams. An alternative route is Rte. 112 South from Shelburne/Buckland to Route 116 to Plainfield,
then Rt. 8 North to North Adams.

The towns of Hawley, Heath, Florida, Colrain, Shelburne Falls and Savoy have all received extensive damage with road washouts and bridge compromises.
