Ashfield Bear Swamp
Easy hiking area with trails around a small pond. Nice rock ledge overlooks the pond. Located on Hawley Road off Route 112.
Chapel Falls
Williamsburg Road in South Ashfield, hiking trails and top of a rock outcropping offers a great view, 300 foot cascade.

Rock cave formation in Highland Park
Highland Pond
Includes a spring-fed pond, for winter ice skating, 19 miles of hiking and cross country ski trails, clay tennis courts and a playground. It is located on the ridge where Poet's Seat Tower is built. Also Sachem's Head where there is a scenic view of the western hill.
Longview Tower
Largest steel observation tower in state, offering 3-state view; gift shop. Located on Route 2 west of I-91 rotary.
Poet's Seat Tower
Named for Frederick Goddard Tuckerman, spectacular view and a system of hiking trails. Tower commands a near 360 degree view. Located atop Rocky Mountain on the ridge that forms the eastern boundary between Greenfield and the Connecticut River.
Hawley Hawley Bog
National landmark owned jointly by the Five Colleges and the Nature Conservancy. Hawley Bog is a tremendous example of a high altitude acidic bog and always has vibrant colors. Located off East Hawley Road (look for large stone marker).
Leverett Rattlesnake Gutter
Glacial ravine, rock formations, tumbled cliffs
New Salem Bear's Den
Small spectacular gorge carved by branch of Swift River, waterfalls, dramatic 100 ft high cliffs. Adjacent to Rattlesnake Gutter Road between North Leverett Road and Montague Road.

Falls

High Ledges
Owned by Massachusetts Audubon Society, hiking trails and spectacular view down to Shelburne Falls. Turn off Route 2 at Little Mohawk Road and continue to Patten Road.
Salmon Falls/Glacial Potholes
The waterfall has 3 cataracts with more than 50 potholes attesting to the thousands of years of erosion. Located at the end of Deerfield Avenue - just off Bridge Street.
